Wow! What can I say? Unfucking believable. Interlaken is just amazing. Surrounded by some 200 mountains. A view of Jungfrau from my bed, amazing weather. Its all good. Surpsingly the first day i come across snow is the first day I am wearing a t shirt.
Managed to catch the train with no worries and amazingly managed to change trains in Bern within the 4 minute window required, high fives all round. I nearly died though and it took a good few minutes to get my breath back – rule me out of the amazing race folks.
Weve been hooning around the alps in a fun car and scooter today – see pics on the side and i have had an absolute blast. Would love to go driving all day around here everyday but alas no, tomorrow we are off to Schilthorn, not as high as jungfrau and not as expensive. This way we will will get a better view of jungfrau and all the other mountains as well as over Interlaken and the surrounding villages.
Well also go to some glaciers and waterfalls, sketchy on the details, all german sounding. Speaking off which its crazy here with all the languages – switzerland has four. Ive stopped trying to assimilate and just say hello and speak in english. No point even trying because i have no idea what people are saying.
interlaken is around the same height as mt buffalo (why i remember that buffalo is 1984 ft high escapes me, why i cant remember my atm PIN also escapes me) hang on, im going to check on that buffalo thing. There you go, disregard that. I must be getting my mounts mixed up.
Anyway, back to Interlaken only 15,000 people but of course heaps of tourists which is actually fine as it is a really clean lovely town and no need to worry about walking around with a camera around the neck.
We are off to a wine bar for dinner tonight as we have no kitchen – staying in a hostel. apart from rosti I dont really dig swiss food, to rich and creamy for my tum tum so weve agreed to just eat whatever while we are here (im the same with german food so will be happy to have just pasta or whatever now, done my food trail.)
I wish I was more adventurous and active. Id love to do the tandem paragliding from the alps but wont do it unless tim does so dont think i will. dont think we have time either as we are heading to munich the day after tomorrow.
Each place we have chosen to go has been brilliant in different ways. Its becoming obvious though that the smaller places like dijon and interlaken are so much better than the cities, the cities are pretty much the same, same stores etc. So not overly excited about munich but im sure it will still be great in its own munichian way : – )
